Job description

Bookkeeper – Construction

Company: Southeast Restoration & Fireproofing Co., Inc.
Location: Stone Mountain, Georgia
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Southeast Restoration & Fireproofing Co., Inc. (“SERF”) is a well-established specialty construction contractor based in Atlanta, Georgia, with over 35 years of experience in restoration, waterproofing, and fireproofing services throughout the Southeast. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our accounting and financial operations.

This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project accounting, and assisting ownership and project management with timely and reliable financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process and track vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, and lien waivers
  • Assist with monthly progress billings (pay applications) and retainage tracking
  • Maintain accurate job cost reporting by project and cost code
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • OCIP and CCIP tracking
  • Maintain the general ledger and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate payroll processing, including review of timesheets and job cost allocation
  • Assist with certified payroll reporting when required
  • Prepare internal financial reports, including cash flow, aging, and job cost summaries
  • Coordinate with the company CPA for monthly close, tax filings, and year-end reporting
  • Maintain compliance documentation including W-9s, insurance certificates, and subcontractor records

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Construction industry experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop)
  • Working knowledge of construction job costing, retainage, and progress billing
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills and discretion with confidential information

Preferred Experience

  • Certified payroll (Davis-Bacon / prevailing wage)
  • Familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore)
  • Experience supporting specialty trade contractors
