Job description

Smallwood is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager with 10โ€“15 years of professional experience to join our Atlanta office. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader who excels at managing complex architectural projects from concept through completion, while collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and internal design teams. The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the high design and technical standards that define Smallwoodโ€™s work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide project management and design leadership across multiple complex project types, including Office, Mixed-Use, Hospitality, Multifamily Residential, and Educational projects
  • Lead project teams through all phases of design and documentation, from programming and schematic design through construction administration
  • Coordinate closely with Design Principals, Project Leaders, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure design intent and project objectives are met
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, public agencies, and external consultants, maintaining clear and consistent communication
  • Develop, manage, and monitor project schedules and budgets, including cost forecasting and financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring the delivery of complete, accurate, and coordinated construction documents
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, supporting professional growth and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented studio culture
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Architecture, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • 10+ years of experience working within an architectural firm on full-service projects
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute and manage projects from inception through completion
  • Strong experience producing and coordinating a complete set of construction documents without assistance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with BIM technologies and 3D modeling software, as well as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams, clients, and consultants
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience across a wide range of project types and scales
