Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join its collaborative design team in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is ideal for an accomplished design professional with a passion for creating innovative architectural solutions and a portfolio showcasing successfully completed, high-quality projects.

The Senior Architectural Designer will lead the design process from concept development through project completion, collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional design talent, strong technical expertise, and the ability to balance creativity with functionality, budget, and project objectives.

Candidates with experience in both architecture and interior design are highly desirable. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse and exciting projects while contributing to a collaborative and design-focused culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design process from conceptual planning through construction documentation.

  • Develop innovative architectural solutions that meet client objectives, project budgets, schedules, and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare design concepts, presentations, renderings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed construction documents.

  • Coordinate and manage project teams, consultants, engineers, and other design professionals throughout all project phases.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during design development and project execution.

  • Present design concepts confidently to clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership.

  • Develop creative building solutions utilizing a variety of architectural styles and design vernaculars.

  • Collaborate with interior designers to integrate cohesive architectural and interior design concepts.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, ADA requirements, and permitting processes.

  • Maintain knowledge of current construction methods, building materials, sustainability practices, and emerging architectural trends.

  • Review project drawings for quality, constructability, coordination, and accuracy.

  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and consultant coordination sessions.

  • Mentor junior architectural designers and provide technical guidance when needed.

  • Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to design intent, schedule, and budget.

  • Research innovative materials, technologies, and sustainable design practices to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of professional architectural design experience.

  • Demonstrated portfolio of completed architectural projects showcasing exceptional creativity and technical expertise.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch. or M.Arch.) from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Strong understanding of commercial, mixed-use, institutional, hospitality, or multifamily design principles.

  • Knowledge of current construction costs and value engineering practices.

  • Experience with site planning, urban design, entitlement processes, zoning regulations, and permitting.

  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction detailing, materials, and engineering coordination.

  • Working knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), ADA, life safety codes, and local building regulations.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Interior design experience is considered a strong plus.

  • Architectural Registration (Licensed Architect) preferred.
