Job description

We have an opening for an energetic, high performing Senior Applications Engineer for our law firm client in their New York office. The ideal candidate serves as the primary custodian of specific applications and systems across different business domains within the firm. This role demands exceptional technical expertise and entails the daily supervision, support, and management of designated systems.

Furthermore, the incumbent collaborates with IT leadership and business stakeholders to establish long-term strategies and drive continuous improvement in the solution's capabilities. This includes, but is not limited to iManage, Litera Desktop, and Practice Innovation related systems, integrations, mobility, and related systems and tools. The Senior Applications Engineer will be instrumental in the implementation of any new business deployment initiatives.

This person will also focus on building stronger relationships and efficiencies between the IT and the business departments. This role is part of the newly formed Applications team. It is an opportunity to help lead the introduction of various new technologies at the firm and be part of a growing and dynamic team.

We are looking for an energetic, high performing individual with the passion and aptitude to learn new technologies, along with the communication and management skills to work independently and deliver new solutions to the business. This individual should be organized, accountable and maintain a strong focus on customer service. What You'll Do: Own enterprise applications such as Compulaw, Docusign, IntApp Conflicts/Intake/Terms, Litera Desktop Suite, Research Monitor, ViDesktop, and Workday across the business development, conflicts, docketing, IT, library, and talent management departments; Specialize in iManage user experience including features, configurations, usability, improvements, and understanding user needs; Specialize in Litera Desktop Check, Compare, Content Companion, Contract Companion, Create, DocXtools, Forte, and Metadact; Specialize in Practice Innovation related systems that help our lawyers be more productive; Work on application implementations, upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting, and roadmaps; Provide direct oversight and management of various solutions as assigned; Act as subject matter expert for those systems and provide technical support as needed.

Ensure the health and stability of all solutions owned; Monitor, track, and report on performance and capacity. Responsible for capacity planning; Under direction of the Senior Manager, Enterprise Applications, engage with the business as needed in supporting the above; Work with the relevant IT teams in developing and delivering enhancements and new capabilities. Drive and manage those efforts; Partner and collaborate with our Practice Innovation & Legal Solutions team on various projects; Deliver recommendations to the business and IT leadership based on an understanding of the platform, roadmap and related business drivers; Maintain current and accurate architecture and support documentation for use by both engineering teams and support staff; Adhere to and participate in the Firm's Change Management process; Provide regular updates and reporting to both the Senior Manager, Enterprise Applications and Director of Applications; Collaborates in the creation and use of training and QA materials and activities for applications supported; Provides coaching to junior analysts on trouble shooting and best practices; Know common legal enterprise solutions.

Advanced knowledge of enterprise applications on premise, in the cloud, and hybrid; Work with product vendors and procurement; Possess strong communication, organization, negotiation, critical thinking, and leadership skills as well as exceptional customer service and collaboration abilities; Work with QA on test scripts, procedures, and remediation; Works overtime and after-hours as required; and Participates in on call rotation for after-hours break/fix support. What You'll Bring: Bachelor's degree (strongly preferred); Working knowledge of legal technology solutions preferred; At least 7 years' of information technology experience (required); At least 5 years' experience working with and supporting enterprise platforms (required); At least 3 years' executive level engagement and customer service (required); and At least 3 years' of experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred). Advanced knowledge of multi-tier architecture including servers, databases, proxies, load balancing, trust/access rights, certificates, and integrations; Advanced knowledge of Windows Server including IIS, services, scheduled tasks, logging, and configurations; Intermediate knowledge of system integrations including APIs, web services, FTP, and database to database; Basic ability to manage monitoring, backups, HA, BC, DR, patching, and admin tools; Basic ability to work with desktop and mobile applications for their installation and configurations; Basic ability to work with SQL Server, SQL development/queries, and reporting tools; Basic ability to work with project management on plans, tasks, and resource management and tools such as Confluence and JIRA; Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell; Familiarity with security best practices and procedures; Familiarity with data governance best practices and procedures; and Familiarity with related IT departments such as infrastructure, desktop, service desk, development, operations, and telecommunications.
