Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role is for a senior backend engineer focused on building scalable, real-time API layers for AI and data platforms. The ideal candidate will have a lead-level mindset and be responsible for supporting AI/ML models in a cloud-native environment, working closely with data science teams to productionize machine learning models and AI capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and build scalable, real-time RESTful APIs to expose machine learning models and AI services
  • Develop backend services that integrate AI/ML models into enterprise systems
  • Create well-defined API contracts that enable downstream business applications to consume model outputs
  • Build integration layers connecting models, data services, and enterprise platforms
  • Work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to productionize models
  • Manage service orchestration, error handling, and reliability patterns
  • Support dependency-heavy distributed systems, coordinating across multiple teams
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across APIs, integrations, and model-serving layers

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a lead-level mindset
  • Strong backend development experience in Golang or Python (preferred over Java)
  • Experience building production-grade REST APIs and microservices
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD and Git
  • Experience with SQL databases (Postgres, Oracle)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, BigQuery, Redis)
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and service integrations
  • Ability to work in highly complex, dependency-driven environments

Pay range: $40.63 - $48.63 per hour
