Job description


Title: Accounting Senior Analyst
Duration: 4 Months
Location: Portland, OR - Hybrid
Description:
  • Contributes to a strong teamenvironment.
  • Performs other duties and adhoc assignments to support the department.
  • Supports NW Natural'scommitment to a culture of safe work practices.
  • Participates in month-endclose by recording journal entries for segment activity and accruals.
  • Analyzes results incomparison to budget and prior periods and provides variance explanationsto Management.
  • Prepares accountreconciliations and performs SOX controls to ensure accurate financialreporting.
  • Compiles specific informationfor the Company's SEC financial statement disclosures.
  • Provides support for bothinternal and external audits.
  • Assist with regulatoryfilings as needed.
  • Gas Reserves accounting
  • Manages the monthly gasreserves accounting process, working regularly with a joint venturepartner to obtain and record relevant transactions.
  • Supports annual audit of theinvestment.
  • Supports an annual reservestudy and incorporates study results in annual forecasts.
  • Prepares materials formonthly Management and quarterly Subsidiary Board Meetings.
  • North Mist Gas StorageFacility accounting
  • Prepares monthly reportingpackage for Management. This includes reviewing information from multipledepartments and interpreting results.
  • Works closely with the Ratesteam to develop annual forecast of future costs.

Requirements
Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree with anemphasis in Accounting and CPA certificate are required
  • Minimum of 5 years of appliedaccounting experience. Public accounting experience is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge ofUS GAAP, with the ability to critically think and apply that knowledge tobusiness requirements
  • Experience in utilityindustry or related business environment is preferred
  • Experience using SAP oranother general ledger or other financial software system is stronglypreferred
  • Experience withreconciliation tool, Blackline preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiencywith an emphasis on Excel
  • Strong written communicationskills including with process and task documentation and report generation
  • Proven ability to meetdeadlines, including strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must combine attention todetail with the ability to envision the big picture
  • Strong analytical skills witha focus on technical accounting rules and experience researchingaccounting issues
  • Ability to facilitate andcoordinate projects
  • Proven ability to function ina team environment
