What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Accounting Python professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Accounting Python professional, you need a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and proficiency in Python programming, often supported by a degree in accounting, finance, or computer science. Familiarity with accounting software (like QuickBooks or Xero), data analysis tools (such as pandas), and experience with APIs or automation frameworks is highly valued. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication are crucial for remote collaboration and accurate financial analysis. These skills are essential for automating accounting tasks, ensuring data integrity, and effectively working within distributed teams.

How does a Remote Accounting Python role typically collaborate with other team members and departments?

In a Remote Accounting Python role, collaboration is often facilitated through virtual meetings, shared project management tools, and regular communication platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams. You’ll frequently work with finance teams to automate accounting processes, liaise with IT for system integrations, and partner with data analysts to ensure accurate reporting. Clear documentation and proactive updates are crucial for remote collaboration, as team members may be distributed across different time zones. Building strong relationships and maintaining regular check-ins help ensure projects stay on track and align with organizational goals.

Job description

Dataiku is seeking a Global Senior Revenue Accountant to join our growing Finance team. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring revenue-generating transactions are properly recorded in our ERP, maintaining key control processes, and owning critical deliverables as part of our monthly close.

What you'll do
  • Review standard and non-standard deals to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and ensure correct setup in NetSuite (Zone Advanced Billing).
  • Own the deferred and unbilled revenue schedules, including monthly account reconciliations, analytics, and license fulfillment validation.
  • Run control processes to detect, investigate, and resolve unusual activity in GL accounts and our automated billing system.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to drive greater automation and stronger controls, including projects within Dataiku DSS.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical Accounting, AR, Tax, Deal Desk, Legal, and Professional Services on both recurring and ad-hoc projects.
  • Contribute to accounting memos and support external audit requests for all revenue-related matters.
Your profile
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition (ASC 606 or IFRS 15).
  • Background combining public accounting (Big 4 or Big 10, 2-3 years minimum) and industry experience - you've worked directly in the systems, not just reviewed other people's work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Collaborative mindset - able to work effectively across teams, cultures, and personalities.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and Salesforce CRM; Zone Advanced Billing is a strong plus.
  • Prior experience in a software or SaaS company.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Ruby, or Python.
What's in it for you
  • Work at a company where your accounting directly shapes financial results that matter - global revenue, global impact.
  • Use Dataiku DSS from the inside - help improve reporting with the very product we sell, at the forefront of AI in finance.
  • No two months are the same - new products, new accounting guidance, new projects keep the role evolving well beyond routine close work.
  • A truly global company - NYC HQ, Paris, London - with a remote-friendly culture built on trust and autonomy.
