Job description

The Opportunity

Nishtech is looking for a Technical Project Manager based in the Cincinnati area to manage the day-to-day delivery of digital experience, commerce, and custom software development projects for our clients.

This role is ideal for a project manager who has a strong foundation in software delivery and wants to continue growing within a technology consulting environment.

You will work closely with Nishtech clients, Solution Architects, Technical Leads, developers, QA, UX teams, and our global delivery organization to keep projects organized, teams aligned, risks visible, and commitments on track.

The right candidate will be comfortable operating at the intersection of project management, client communication, and technology. You don't need to be a developer or architect, but you should understand how software projects are delivered and be comfortable participating in technical conversations.

Project & Delivery Management

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of assigned client projects.
  • Create and maintain project plans, sprint schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, and delivery forecasts.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate work across technical, UX, QA, and client teams.
  • Work closely with Technical Leads and Solution Architects to understand delivery dependencies and priorities.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Effectively manage changing client requirements and priorities throughout the engagement.
  • Track project commitments and proactively follow up on actions and dependencies.
  • Identify risks and issues early and work with project and Nishtech leadership to establish mitigation plans.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet agreed expectations and quality standards.
  • Maintain clear project documentation and status reporting.
  • Apply Nishtech's delivery methodology and project management standards consistently.

Project Financial Management

  • Track project budgets, hours, expenses, burn rates, and remaining effort.
  • Monitor project performance against approved budgets and Statements of Work.
  • Maintain project forecasts for revenue, resource utilization, and cost to completion.
  • Review project team time reporting for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify potential budget, scope, or margin concerns and escalate them appropriately.
  • Track change requests and ensure scope changes are documented and communicated.

Client Management & Communication

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day project contact for assigned clients.
  • Facilitate effective client meetings and project status reviews.
  • Clearly communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and next steps.
  • Set and manage client expectations regarding scope, timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables.
  • Build productive and trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Understand each client's business objectives and how the project supports those objectives.
  • Resolve project issues when possible and escalate appropriately when additional leadership support is required.
  • Communicate difficult or sensitive project information professionally and tactfully.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve the client experience.

Technical Understanding

The Technical Project Manager does not need to be a developer or architect, but should have enough technical understanding to effectively manage software delivery projects.

A working understanding of several of the following areas is preferred:

  • Software Development Lifecycle and Agile delivery
  • Web and application development
  • CMS and Digital Experience Platforms
  • eCommerce and B2B commerce
  • APIs and system integrations
  • ERP, CRM, PIM, DAM, and related enterprise systems
  • UX and digital design processes
  • QA and testing
  • Cloud environments and software deployments

You should be comfortable listening to technical discussions, asking appropriate questions, identifying dependencies, and translating technical topics into clear project actions and client communication.

Business Development Support

  • Identify potential follow-on opportunities that emerge during client engagements.
  • Share client needs and potential opportunities with Nishtech account and growth leadership.
  • Assist with project estimates, scoping exercises, proposals, and Statements of Work when needed.
  • Provide delivery input regarding timelines, resource requirements, assumptions, and project risks.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Nishtech's capabilities and services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably involving software development, digital experience, ecommerce, or enterprise technology implementations.
  • 2+ years working in consulting, professional services, systems integration, or a digital agency environment preferred.
  • Experience managing custom software development projects using Agile and/or SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience working directly with external clients.
  • Understanding of project budgets, forecasts, scope management, and change management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate distributed teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, collaborative, and willing to learn.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Willingness to travel periodically based on client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sitecore, Optimizely, Shopify, or another enterprise CMS/DXP/eCommerce platform.
  • Experience with B2B or B2C commerce implementations.
  • Experience with enterprise integrations and APIs.
  • PMP certification.
  • Scrum, Agile, or other project management certification.

  • Work closely with Solution Architects, Technical Leads, engineers, UX, QA, and client teams.

  • Help improve the way Nishtech delivers projects as we continue to grow.
  • Build a career path toward Senior Technical Project Manager and broader delivery leadership opportunities.
