Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while actively contributing to patient safety and care excellence.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form individualized plans of care.
  • Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient information and status for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
  • Participate in and be accountable for patient rehabilitation programs, utilizing nursing processes effectively.
  • Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and begin patient teaching for discharge preparation.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
  • Provide direction and training to ancillary nursing personnel, using problem-solving techniques.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Contribute positively to unit function by providing calm direction and reassurance to staff and patients.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and clinical training.
  • Assume charge responsibility as requested post-orientation.
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
  • Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
  • ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
