Fleet Operations Manager


Job Summary


The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company transportation services. This role leads fleet personnel, ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, manages vehicle utilization and maintenance activities, and supports operational excellence across all transportation functions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage daily fleet operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services.
  • Supervise, coach, and support drivers and transportation staff.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance programs and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Investigate and respond to incidents, accidents, and safety concerns in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain operational records, reports, and required documentation.
  • Conduct performance coaching, training coordination, and ongoing development of transportation personnel.
  • Lead and participate in safety meetings and operational reviews.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers, employees, and business partners.
  • Support staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning needs. (Suggested management responsibility.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous leadership or management experience in transportation, fleet operations, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred depending on operational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading fleet, transportation, logistics, or operations teams.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance programs and fleet performance metrics.
