Job description

Epson, a global technology leader, is seeking a Senior Counsel to join our Legal team.
The Senior Counsel is responsible for managing an active portfolio of legal issues related to Epson products and services with moderate to high-risk implications, providing pre-litigation and litigation advice across the Company, and leading the review of advertising and marketing materials across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.
This role collaborates closely with mid- to senior-level stakeholders across Epson America, with a focus on supporting teams within Consumer Sales & Marketing, Commercial Sales & Marketing, and Service & Support, as well as key global partners including Seiko Epson Corporation Legal, IP, and Product Management.
This position is based out of Epson America's headquarters in Los Alamitos, CA with an opportunity for a hybrid schedule.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership
  • In partnership with senior management, create and execute legal strategies that advance the company's business goals within defined areas
  • Participate in and influence decision-making processes with senior management
  • Lead the company's legal thinking and manage an active portfolio of matters within assigned areas

Advice & Counsel
  • Advise business stakeholders on compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Assess legal risks and opportunities, and establish strategies to minimize risk within acceptable business parameters
  • Collaborate with internal legal teams and coordinate efforts with internal and external legal and business experts as appropriate
  • Shape and advocate the company's positions to internal and external audiences on a variety of legal and business matters
  • Communicate business risk tolerance to outside counsel to drive effective outcomes

Requirements:
  • 5-8 years of relevant legal experience
  • Prior in-house experience supporting sales, marketing and product development for technology products strongly preferred
  • Enthusiastic team player with strong communication and project management skills, as well as business judgment and ability to assess risk
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to assess and balance legal risk
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented team player with a strong desire to learn and contribute to Epson's success
  • Active California Bar membership or active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

The starting annual base pay for this role is between USD $182,895 and $228,620. Please note that this position's salary range may include multiple levels. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
