As a Security Trainer, you will deliver impactful, hands-on security instructions to Samaritan's Purse staff both domestically and internationally. Take the lead in the classroom and the field, develop, update, and present critical training materials that prepare teams for real-world challenges. Help staff understand how security integrates with the Christian mission of Samaritan's Purse and be ready to answer the tough questions that matter in complex, high-risk environments.
In the role of Security Trainer,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Equip Samaritan's Purse staff to serve safely around the world by providing security training that builds practical knowledge and helps mitigate risks to ministry personnel and the mission.
  • Develop, maintain, and continually strengthen security training through research, audits, industry collaboration, and online and in-person curriculum, while accurately tracking attendance, completion, and feedback in the learning management system.
  • Prepare international leaders for effective security planning by training new Country Security Managers and Country Directors to develop and implement security plans and procedures within their field offices.
  • Deliver tailored security training for International Projects, Disaster Assistance Response Teams, Operation Christmas Child, World Medical Mission, national staff, and affiliate offices, adapting instruction to the cultural and security needs of each location.
  • Coordinate international training and security resources by managing logistics, equipment, and stakeholder coordination while serving as an initial resource for international security policies and partnering with IT to train staff on radios, satellite communications, mobile apps, and other security technology.
  • Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified in the job description.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and three (3) years' related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Security management is required. Experience teaching and training in a classroom and field environment is required. Samaritan's Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team certification or the ability and willingness to become certified within the first 12 months of employment is required. Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies are strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of instructional methods, techniques, and instructional design
  • Ability to comfortably speak in front of a group of people and communicate complex concepts and ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to understand complex security situations and relate possible impacts on security officers
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information to develop a complete picture of security situations
  • Ability to make timely and accurate decisions in complex or uncertain environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively across socio-economic, political, and cultural lines
  • Ability to lead others in their growing relationship with Jesus Christ (spiritual maturity)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Foreign language skills are strongly preferred
