Job description

Saalex Corporation is seeking multiple Cybersecurity Engineer I in Tidewater, VA and San Diego, CA. Saalex Corp., is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services. Position Type: Contingent on Contract Award.

Salary: $85k-$145k (depending on experience)

The Cybersecurity Engineer I supports the Navy by designing, implementing, and securing enterprise IT and network systems in support of global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments. This role focuses on cybersecurity engineering, system hardening, and integration of secure architectures.

Essential Functions:

  • Support cybersecurity engineering tasks including system hardening and secure configuration.
  • Assist in applying security controls and patches to systems and applications.
  • Support vulnerability scanning and remediation activities.
  • Assist with documentation for RMF and security compliance activities.
  • Work with senior engineers to implement secure solutions.

Requirements

Required:

  • 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, IT security, or related field.
  • Experience with system security principles, network security, or secure configurations.
  • Knowledge of RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Required certifications aligned to DoD 8140 (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP based on level).

Desired:

  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs.
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools such as ACAS, HBSS, or SIEM platforms.
  • Experience with cloud or virtualized environments.
  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or SCI clearance preferred.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance. Active clearances preferred. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
