Join Our Team as a 2nd Pressman

We are looking for an experienced 2nd Pressman to join our printing production team. As a 2nd Pressman, you will work alongside the Press Operator to support the operation of a sheet-fed offset printing press, ensuring high-quality envelope production while maintaining production efficiency and minimizing downtime. This 2nd Pressman position is ideal for someone with a mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing quality printed products.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Press Operator with the setup, make-ready, operation, and maintenance of a sheet-fed offset printing press.
  • Install printing plates, blankets, and packing materials to prepare the printing press for production runs.
  • Help maintain consistent print quality by monitoring color registration, print alignment, and ink coverage throughout production.
  • Adjust printing press components including feeders, feed wheels, suction grippers, side guides, delivery mechanisms, and jogging devices.
  • Perform routine cleaning of blankets, ink rollers, ink fountains, and other printing press components using approved cleaning materials.
  • Assist with replacing worn rollers and making mechanical adjustments to support optimal printing press performance.
  • Work with the Press Operator to make color and register corrections that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and printing specifications to ensure accurate press setup.
  • Perform routine operational maintenance and assist with minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Inspect finished envelopes throughout production to verify quality and identify any printing defects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2nd Pressman, Press Assistant, or similar printing press position preferred.
  • General knowledge of offset printing, printing press operation, and sheet-fed press equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate and adjust printing press equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools for equipment adjustments and maintenance.
  • Ability to read job specifications and production instructions accurately.
