Job description

Job Title: Ski Instructor

Job Overview: A ski instructor is responsible for providing instruction and guidance to individuals or groups of varying skill levels in the sport of skiing. This role involves assessing the abilities of students, creating lesson plans, and implementing teaching strategies to enhance skiing proficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instruction:

    • Provide ski lessons to individuals or groups, catering to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers.
    • Teach proper skiing techniques, including stance, balance, turning, stopping, and other essential skills.
    • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
  2. Safety:

    • Emphasize and enforce safety guidelines and rules on the slopes.
    • Monitor students closely to ensure a safe skiing experience and intervene when necessary to prevent accidents.
  3. Assessment:

    • Evaluate the skiing abilities of students through observation and feedback.
    • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills.
  4. Lesson Planning:

    • Develop lesson plans that align with the skill levels and goals of the students.
    • Incorporate a variety of teaching methods and drills to keep lessons engaging and effective.
  5. Equipment Knowledge:

    • Assist students in selecting appropriate ski equipment and ensure that it is properly fitted.
    • Provide guidance on equipment usage, maintenance, and safety.
  6. Customer Service:

    • Interact with students in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Address inquiries, concerns, and feedback from students and their families.
    • Effectively communicate skiing concepts and instructions to students.
    • Collaborate with other ski instructors and staff to ensure a coordinated and positive learning environment.
  7. Qualifications:

    • Possess relevant skiing certifications and qualifications from recognized organizations.
    • Strong skiing skills and a passion for the sport.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • First aid and CPR certification may be required.
  8. Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to ski proficiently in various conditions and terrains.
    • Stamina and physical fitness to spend extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions: Ski instructors work in outdoor settings, mountainous regions and varying weather conditions. Work will include weekends, holidays, and nights during peak skiing seasons.
