Job description

Description:
  • Title: Seasonal Production Operator
  • Reports to: Production Supervisor
  • Status: Non-Exempt
  • Wages: Hourly
  • Work Week: 40hours + Overtime (Seasonal)

General Description Summary

The Seasonal Production Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining production and material handling equipment used in the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of Phos-Chek® fire retardant products. This seasonal position supports peak fire season operations and is critical to meeting increased production demands during high-activity periods. This role supports day-to-day production activities by ensuring equipment reliability, product quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Perimeter Solutions’ Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) standards. The Production Operator works closely with the Production Supervisor and cross-functional teams to execute production plans, maintain accurate records, identify process or equipment issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and quality. Due to the seasonal nature of this role, flexibility in scheduling and availability for extended hours is required to support fire season demand.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include (not in any priority):

  • Operate production systems, including salt panel and blending panel operations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform batch preparation activities, ensuring correct raw material usage and adherence to formulation specifications.
  • Execute packaging operations, including filling, weighing, labeling, and palletizing products.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Operate production and material handling equipment safely and effectively to meet production targets.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify wear, malfunctions, or safety concerns.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs as assigned.
  • Promptly report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, or operational abnormalities to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist maintenance personnel during troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment changeovers as needed.
  • Collect, label, and document representative quality control samples per quality procedures.
  • Maintain accurate production records, batch documentation, and lot traceability records.
  • Identify, segregate, and maintain physical control of non-conforming raw materials and finished goods.
  • Support compliance with DOT, OSHA, Industrial Hygiene, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment using 5S and good housekeeping practices.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents to supervision.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend process, equipment, or workflow improvements to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Scheduling & Availability Requirements:

  • Availability to work 4–20 hours of overtime per week during peak fire season, depending on operational demand.
  • Ability to work fluctuating hours based on production needs, including evenings, weekends, and varying shifts.
  • Expected regular schedule is 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; however, flexibility is required, particularly during the summer months, to accommodate early morning or evening shifts as needed.

Seasonal Nature of Employment:

  • This is a seasonal position tied directly to fire season operations. As business demand slows, “decreasing” may occur, meaning a reduction in scheduled hours on slower production days, and/or temporary layoffs as fire season winds down. Employment will ultimately conclude when fire season ends and operational needs cease

Requirements:

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and monitor industrial equipment.
  • Basic understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete production and shipping documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
