Job description

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of R.D Offutt Farms Seasonal Truck Drivers is to haul product from designated farm bins to the customer. All drivers are required to hold a valid driver's license. Daily timekeeping logs, potato load logs, pre- and post-trip inspections, and scale weight tickets are also the driver's responsibility. Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading trucks, including operating a remote control for loading. Drivers with manual transmission experience preferred.

$18 - $21 / hour
Job Duties:
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to management
• Collect delivery instructions from the trucking office and field supervisors, verifying instructions and routes
• Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons to transport and deliver product
• Check conditions of truck box after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
• Secure cargo for transport, using tarps
• Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary
• Communicate effectively with management and other team members
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Farms
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
Job Requirements:
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the positions with or without accommodation
• Climbing in to and exiting trucks multiple times throughout the day
• Climbing stairs multiple times a day
• Willingness to work outside
• Walk on uneven ground at the farm locations
• Must be able to work overtime during harvest season or as the need arises
• Experience with farm or heavy equipment operation preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent observation, analysis and organization abilities
• Previous truck driving experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
