Job description

THE POSITION If you find enjoyment in outdoor endeavors and thrive in a hands-on role, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) invites you to explore a rewarding career with our team at the Kettle Creek State Park Complex as a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker. Here, you will take part in vital tasks involving the upkeep of park grounds and facilities while embracing the gratifying essence of public service. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports daily maintenance and construction tasks that keep park buildings, grounds, and facilities safe and clean for the public.

Work involves both independent tasks and assisting skilled staff with larger projects. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties: Facility Care: Clean park buildings and assist with routine building and equipment upkeep Grounds Work: Mow lawns, maintain trails, and perform landscaping and shoreline maintenance Construction Support: Assist skilled staff with carpentry, concrete work, plumbing, electrical tasks, and demolition Equipment Use: Operate hand tools, power tools, and park machinery in a safe and proper manner Public Interaction: Provide directions, answer questions, and respond to visitor comments Project Assistance: Support scheduled projects and maintenance at both Kettle Creek and Ole Bull State Parks Interested in learning more. Work Schedule and Additional Information: This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday - Sunday, with a 30-minute lunch. Some overtime and travel may be required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
