Job description

THE POSITION As a Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, you will help make Parker Dam State Park a clean, safe, and welcoming place. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and taking on a variety of tasks. Your efforts will support the park's natural beauty and smooth daily operations.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will play an important role in maintaining the buildings, grounds, and equipment that keep Parker Dam State Park running smoothly. You will support both visitor experience and overall park operations.

As a Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties: Building and Facility Repairs: Make repairs using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other building trade skills Equipment Operation and Care: Operate and assist with the care and cleaning of park vehicles and equipment Grounds Upkeep: Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, and outdoor areas through mowing, trimming, planting, and general cleanup Construction Support: Build simple forms, mix and place cement, finish concrete, and lay stone or block walls Painting and Maintenance: Paint or stain buildings, signs, and gates as needed Custodial Tasks: Clean, supply, and make minor routine repairs to restrooms, offices, and other buildings. Work Schedule and Additional Information: This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.

The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027. Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Shifts and days will vary including weekends, and holidays.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
