Job description

The Dabney is seeking a passionate, driven, and collaborative Chef de Cuisine to help lead one of Washington, D.C.'s most celebrated kitchens.

Centered around our live-fire hearth, The Dabney celebrates the Mid-Atlantic's farmers, fishermen, and artisans through thoughtful, seasonal cooking. We are looking for a chef who shares our commitment to exceptional ingredients, disciplined execution, and genuine hospitality while inspiring and developing the team around them.


The Role

The Chef de Cuisine is the operational and culinary leader of the kitchen, working closely with Chef Jeremiah and our Culinary Director to execute our vision while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and professionalism. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who thrives on mentorship, organization, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily kitchen operations and service with confidence and composure.
  • Train, mentor, and develop cooks while fostering a culture of accountability and respect.
  • Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Collaborate on seasonal menu development, recipe testing, and creative initiatives.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, food costing, and labor goals.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house leadership team to ensure an outstanding guest experience.
  • Help cultivate a positive, inclusive, and high-performing kitchen culture.
