Job description

Club SciKidz MD offers science, cooking and technology summer camps for children ages 4-15 years in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, and Montgomery counties. We are currently hiring a Program Director for our Cooking Camps that are held throughout Howard County. Our cooking programs are half-day, but there is always an AM and PM session, so it's a full day of camp. Program director should be available to work 8am-4:30pm, although those will not be the scheduled hours every day. Weekly salary starts at $750 and is dependent on experience.

Program Directors are responsible for...

  • Overseeing the implementation of the cooking camps, either one or two sets (AM & PM) each week
  • Managing staff & ensuring lessons and activities are implemented appropriately; helping and assisting as needed
  • Ensure staff has needed materials and ingredients for each day and purchasing perishables throughout the week; keeping ingredients and materials organized and stocked from day to day; using provided lessons and packing lists to check materials and supplies
  • Ensuring camper supervision and safety and handling camper behaviors; overseeing any needed modifications due to food allergies
  • Handling camper sign-in and sign out, following all established procedures and guidelines
  • Parent communication and interaction

Ideal candidates...

  • Certified teacher with at least 2 years teaching experience; other comparable experience considered
  • Enjoy cooking and working with food; have a solid understanding of basic cooking, baking and kitchen skills
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with parents, as well as with handling parent concerns
  • Have strong classroom management skills and experience working with children of varying behaviors, abilities and needs
  • Organized and detail oriented

Requirements...

  • Work at least 4 weeks (between June 22nd-August 14th) at different locations throughout Howard County. Preference given for candidates who can work 6 or more weeks (No camp the week of June 29-July 3)
  • Work Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
  • Attend Director Training Saturday, May 16th and Staff Training on Saturday, June 6th
  • CPR & First Aid certification (must have certification by first day of camp) & HoCo Crowd Manager Training
  • Passionate about working with children and teaching & providing a positive camp experience
