Job description

Description The Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, Youth and Countywide Sports Division (YCSD) develops, organizes, and supports recreational sports programming for youth and adults across the county. Our programs aim to foster skill development, teamwork, community engagement, and a lifelong love for sports. The Permitting and Field Operations (PFO) unit of YCSD is hiring a Field/Gym Monitor to assist with tournaments and sporting events at various schools and fields throughout the county.

These events include, but are not limited to, soccer, flag football, basketball, baseball, softball, field hockey and lacrosse for all ages. The Gym/Field Monitor is responsible for opening and preparing game sites, maintaining the physical condition of game sites, and ensuring that park and school usage rules are enforced. Examples of Important Duties Open, inspect, and prepare game sites and on-site restrooms before each game day. Maintain friendly and positive relationships with players, coaches, site staff, permit holders, park/facility staff, concession vendors, parents and spectators. Restore the game site to its original condition at the end of every game day, including trash removal and restroom cleaning.

Keep storage areas neat and orderly with equipment and supplies properly stored. Record and report any violations of site rules such as smoking, use of alcohol, and disorderly conduct. Identify and report any sanitation or waste concerns at the site.

Verify the game/event schedule, ensuring that the appropriate teams are using the site. Monitor events/games and provide customer service to patrons. Minimum Qualifications Required A High School diploma or equivalent.

Must be at least 17 years of age (A work permit is required for individuals under 18 years old.). Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Preferred Community CPR and First Aid Certifiactions are desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Work hours The Field/Gym Monitor works a variety of shifts, which may include evenings and weekends, depending on program schedules and events. Working Conditions/Environment Indoors and outdoors, sometimes during varying weather conditions Supplemental information Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check. Work locations are in various locations countywide.
