What You'll Do:

As a Cashier, you will serve as the front line of yard operations by processing customer transactions, verifying materials, and ensuring all purchases comply with company and legal requirements. Accuracy in this role directly impacts production, compliance, and customer experience.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Attend safety meetings and participate in safety program.
  • Weighing and purchasing inbound scrap, obtaining required information from customers for all transactions, complete purchasing and shipping documents and daily reconciliation of transactions.
  • Responsible for following all legal requirements on purchasing materials.
  • Communicate pricing information and material specifications to customers with the ability to connect well with all levels of customers and management.
  • Ensure good customer relations by acting in a courteous, safe and professional manner.
  • Interact with employees on other scales to verify/restrict duplication of purchases.
  • Inspect materials for non-acceptable items
  • Ensure metals that are purchased are correct and properly classified. 
  • Control traffic patterns in yard and direct customers to proper location to unload materials.
  • Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
