Job description

Department: Board of Trustees
SUMMARY
This position provides executive, administrative, operational, and coordination support to the Board of Trustees, the CSPS Manager, and Product Managers at The Christian Science Publishing Society (CSPS). The role requires strong administrative, organizational, technical, and communication skills; initiative and flexibility; excellent judgment and discretion; and the ability to manage sensitive and high-priority matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
The incumbent serves as a central coordination point among Trustees, Product Managers, editorial departments, and other departments throughout The Mother Church. This role supports smooth operations, effective communication, organizational alignment, and efficient execution of leadership priorities.
The incumbent must have a strong understanding of the mission of the Church and Publishing Society and approach all work with humility, spiritual discernment, professionalism, and a solution-oriented attitude.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive and Administrative Support (50%)
  • Serve as hub for tracking and organizing information, both for immediate-term action and long-term recordkeeping
    • Manage calendars, meetings, and records for Trustees and/or CSPS Manager.
    • Prepare agendas, correspondence, meeting notes (on occasion), and action items (if needed).
    • Maintain Trustee and leadership records, including minutes, approvals, correspondence, and retention documentation.
    • Coordinate meetings, retreats, and occasional events.
  • Support onboarding, staffing changes, performance-review coordination, and related administrative processes.
  • Provide technical support and assist with adoption of new tools, technologies, and workflows.
  • Coordinate travel, expense reporting, budget-related administration, and logistical support.
  • Maintain org charts, distribution lists, communication channels, and operational documentation.
  • Help identify and implement process improvements to increase organizational efficiency.

Communication Support (30%)
  • Manage Salesforce correspondence workflows and customer-care coordination.
  • Coordinate communication and workflow across CSPS departments and leadership teams.
  • Draft, edit, and send Trustee correspondence as directed.
  • Help coordinate staff meetings, metaphysical meetings, retreats, and milestone events.
  • Approach all communication and interactions with professionalism, kindness, discretion, and an expectancy of healing.

Other Support (20%)
  • Develop a working understanding of CSPS publishing areas, products, workflows, and priorities in order to support effective coordination across teams.
  • Provide flexible support to publishing initiatives to support, coordinate, and, where appropriate, take ownership of selected projects or project components.
  • Serve as a liaison between Reading Room activities and CSPS efforts, helping identify connections, communication needs, and opportunities for alignment.
  • Assist with coordinating inter-CSPS efforts, as well as organization-wide initiatives involving CSPS resources, products, staff, or audiences.

This position has regular contact with the Christian Science Board of Directors, the Christian Science Board of Trustees, and other Church officers, employees, managers, Coordinating Managers, Church members, and the public.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred. Typically requires 3-8 years of progressively responsible administrative or operational experience. Project management experience and / or publishing experience a plus.

Work Environment
This position primarily works on site in an office environment in Boston and requires flexibility, adaptability, professionalism, and comfort working in a collaborative environment. Little to no travel is required.
Engagement with Christian Science
Membership in The Mother Church required; Primary Class instruction preferred. Dedication to the vision of the Christian Science Publishing Society Board of Trustees and the Christian Science Board of Directors is essential.
Pay range: $76,025 - $98,832.20 annually
The pay ranges disclosed in our job postings are the compensation ranges the Church reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for a given position at the time of posting.
The offered salary will be determined by factors such as the applicant's relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities; and benchmarking, work location, and internal equity.
