6.75 hrs./day Level 1 Technology Support Specialist

Position Overview
The successful candidate will be an individual who firmly believes:

  • In meeting students' academic, social, and emotional needs and aspirations so that each student feels valued and has a sense of belonging, leading to academic success

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the building principal and level 2 technology staff, to maintain the school district's computer and network equipment in operating condition, meeting the technology needs of the district; troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware and software, and resolving immediate computer operational problems. This position is considered non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Primary Responsibilities
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
  • Install and maintain computer operating systems, application software, and related computer equipment.
  • Perform computer and network hardware and software repair (computers, servers, switches, printers, scanners, and programs).
  • Create and maintain E-Mail and Internet accounts on computers; configure E-Mail and security on computers.
  • Inspect computer and network equipment requiring specialized computer repair and troubleshooting for the purpose of identifying and verifying repair needs.
  • Assess malfunctions of hardware for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.
  • Provide technical support to users of hardware and software.
  • Maintain the school based computer labs in good working order.
  • Train selected individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems and new or existing software.
  • Coordinate computer and network-related repair requests.
  • Assist in record-keeping regarding the functioning and inventory of the school district's computers and related equipment, repairs, etc.
  • Assist in making recommendations regarding the purchase of new computers, software, and related equipment.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Preferences
We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm for working with students. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of:
    • Computer hardware and software installation procedures.
    • All school district personal computer and software applications.
    • Current operating platforms, computer hardware and associated peripherals, and software applications.
    • E-Mail, Internet, WAN, LAN, and other computer network programs and operations.
  • Ability to:
    • Inspect, assess, troubleshoot and repair computer network system, hardware and software.
    • Work independently.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of end-users.
    • Follow oral and/or written instructions.
    • Report work orally and/or in writing to supervisor.
    • Establish and, maintain cooperative working relationship with, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
    • Carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
    • Add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving and creative-thinking skills with respect to computer-related issues.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent, with related college or technical school coursework and documented training in computer hardware, software and network use, troubleshooting and repair preferred. A+ certification and networking certifications preferred. Previous experience in computer and network installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair preferred.
Licensing Requirements
No specific license is required for this position.
Salary and Benefits
The starting pay for this position is $20.61/hr.and is based on 2026-2028 AFSCME Paraprofessional Contract.
