REPORTS TO:ย ย ย ย Director of Transportation

JOB GOAL:ย ย ย ย To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the system's curricular and extra-curricular programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:ย ย ย ย 

ย ย ย ย Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a bus driver.
ย ย ย ย Possession of a valid state of West Virginia Commercial Driver's License, Class B (passenger endorsement).
ย ย ย ย Knowledge of the road and street system of the county; ability to effectively control the action of children of different ages riding the school buses; thorough knowledge of safety measures invoked to protect children using school buses; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
ย ย ย ย Successful completion of West Virginia School Bus Operators Program presented by Ohio County Schools Transportation Department.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

ย ย ย ย Drive a school bus on assigned routes, picking up and discharging children at designated locations.
ย ย ย ย Keep to assigned schedule.
ย ย ย ย Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
ย ย ย ย Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
ย ย ย ย Report undisciplined students to proper authorities using the correct procedures. ย If necessary, meet with school administrators, parents, and when applicable, students, to resolve situations when could affect the safe operation of the school bus.
ย ย ย ย Keep assigned bus clean and notify the coordinator of vehicle maintenance of needed repairs.
ย ย ย ย Prepare reports to the administrator for transportation as required.
ย ย ย ย Accept curricular and extra-curricular trips when necessary.
ย ย ย ย Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-county school trips.
ย ย ย ย Report all accidents to the administrator for transportation and complete required reports.
ย ย ย ย Participate in regularly scheduled staff development conducted by Ohio County Schools.
ย ย ย ย Submit to federally required pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident and/or return-to-duty and follow-up controlled substances and alcohol testing upon request.
ย ย ย ย Perform other duties assigned by the administrator for transportation.
ย ย ย ย Maintaining positive work habits.
ย ย ย ย Performing duties efficiently and productively.
ย ย ย ย Maintaining and/or upgrading skills.
