Job description

Job Summary: Develops, plans, and maintains Master Schedule for manufacturing facilities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develops, publishes, and maintains the master production schedule, balancing production capacity and inventory levels. Maintains and monitors master and facility level MRP Finished Goods records, impacting a stable MRP and Finite Production schedule.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate measures of manufacturing performance versus forecast and plan. Monitors and minimizes unscheduled changes and scheduled changeovers. Monitors Customer Orders, analyzing consumption and managing expeditions.
  • Balances demand with available capacity and material through Capacity Planning. Analyzes production specifications and capacity data; makes plans and adjustments to plans; prepares communications to operations, logistics, and product supply team.
  • Responds to changes in supply and/or demand, adjusting production plans as appropriate.
  • Communicates plans and significant plan changes with appropriate team members.
  • Identifies and expedites alternative solutions and recommendations to meet unforeseen conditions such as schedule delays, alternate schedules, changes in manufacturing locations, shipping/distribution, etc.
  • Maintains on-going communications and participates in cross-functional team meetings (10:30am daily except on Tuesdays at 3:30pm)
  • Assists sales/marketing and procurement in scheduling promotional activities and product life cycle management.
  • Participants in ERP/Supply Chain Planning system integration, specifically for Master Scheduling process.
  • May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

Somewhat independent; work frequently done independently by following standard practices and procedures while occasionally having work checked.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information. Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, MRP software, and Internet software.

Education and Experience

College degree; or 1 - 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

Create and maintain a production schedule that is part specific and balanced daily. This schedule must pull from our system and all data that is collected now is expected to be collected through Ross or Business Objects.

Must inform key managers of any schedule changes daily.

Create and monitor a schedule attainment measurement system.

Monitors customer demands and creates shipping documentation. A shipping schedule should be created weekly (planned) and actual tracked daily. We need measurables on the schedule as well as shipments.

When the schedule has been developed and implemented this position will also work in purchasing as needed.
