Job description

Maintenance Planner

Overview

The Maintenance Planner position is responsible for assisting with the development of reliability-based maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance. They will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to build a proactive maintenance team with a focus on making decisions based on facts and data. The Maintenance Planner will work independently and collaborate with other plant personnel to implement preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. The Maintenance Planner position benefits greatly from hands on maintenance experience and prior leadership roles. The Maintenance Planner is the local Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the plants Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), providing system training and feedback to ensure accurate records are maintained. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate equipment records in SAP; including updating master data and decommissioning equipment removed during capital projects.
  • Setup and maintain all predictive and preventative maintenance plans in SAP to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Setup and maintain PM plans in SAP for each piece of equipment, including frequency, mechanic tasks, parts needs, tools needed, safety procedures.
  • Maintain rebuild schedules in SAP for all critical equipment.
  • Schedule preventative work orders to maintenance crews based on individual skillsets.
  • Plan and Schedule Corrective work to improve equipment reliability based on resource availability. Plans identify special tools required and as well as permits required.
  • Reviews work request (SAP Notifications), collaborates with requestor, and plans job execution to meet expectations.
  • Schedules requested work based on priority, resource availability, and plant requirements.
  • Requisitions parts and services from vendors when required.
  • Holds weekly meetings with operations to review requested work and determine priorities.
  • Holds weekly meeting to review and finalize upcoming maintenance schedule.
  • Report on maintenance performance to plant management and other maintenance leadership.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report data related to component failure to detect trends and seek alternative solutions focused on eliminating the root cause of failures.
  • Creates, tracks, and reports on annual budgets and monthly spend forecasts.

Parts Room Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise parts room, inventory, and its employees.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to oversee purchasing of all MRO.
  • Manage inventory stock levels to maintain high equipment availability.
  • Ensure all regulatory and internal compliance requirements are met.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a maintenance planner or coordinator preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing maintenance inventories preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Aptitude to learn new systems and processes.
  • 2- or 4-year degree or related work experience required.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency with computers is a must. Experience with ERP and CMMS software (SAP Preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and Business Intelligence tools (Qlik Sense Preferred) is desired.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50#.

Working Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to wet conditions.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
  • The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
