JOB OVERVIEW

The Material Handling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing the physical movement of materials needed to support production and shipping activities. This role ensures raw materials, components, work-in-process, and finished goods are received, moved, staged, transferred, and prepared accurately and on time. The Material Handling Coordinator works closely with production, readiness, fleet, and inventory teams to maintain smooth and reliable material flow throughout the operation.

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Coordinate and perform daily material movement activities across assigned departments, value streams, or facilities.
  • Move materials to and from production work centers based on priorities, schedules, and operational demand.
  • Stage material for production, shipment, transfer, or storage.
  • Support receiving and shipping processes, including unloading, loading, verification, and documentation.
  • Ensure material is properly identified, labeled, scanned, and transacted in the system.
  • Maintain visibility of material locations, rack/bin status, and job movement across operations.
  • Support interdepartmental and interbuilding movement of WIP and completed components.
  • Communicate with supervisors, planners, readiness team members, and production teams regarding urgent material needs and movement priorities.
  • Assist in resolving basic material location issues, transaction discrepancies, and movement delays.
  • Maintain organized material storage areas, staging lanes, and flow paths.
  • Follow standard work for material handling, rack/bin usage, equipment use, labeling, and safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
  • Basic ERP, scanner, or inventory transaction experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple priorities and respond quickly to production needs.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing material flow.
  • Attention to detail in labeling, scanning, and material identification.
