Job description

Position Objective:

Provides assistance to the CT Scan Technologist under the supervision of the CT scan technologist to ensure patient care flow thought the CT scan department in accordance to the protocols, policies and standards of the CT Scan department.

Essential Job Duties:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  1. Provides direct care to patients and families in a developmentally, culturally and ethically appropriate manner under the direction of the CT scan Technologist.
  2. Double identifies all patients, prior to assisting patients in CT scan.
  3. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with departmental and organizational policies, processes and procedures.
  4. Ensures appropriate storage and routing of supplies in the CT area; monitors supplies and report shortages as requires.
  5. Transports patients in accordance with established safety policies.
  6. Participates in patient care data collection and unit specific procedures as direct by the CT scan Technologist and in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
  7. Confers with the supervisor to report problems relative to equipment, staffing and productivity and makes recommendations relative to them.
  8. Obtains pertinent, pre-screening clinical data prior to diagnostic examination, assists with the preparation of patients, and assists with recording significant data. Appropriately prioritizes patients in work-flow. Provides care for physically and mentally compromised patients.
  9. Assists the CT scan technologist with efficient patient flow through scanner area through effective scheduling and assignment of responsibility.
  10. Actively participates in departmental activities and departmental staff meetings.

 Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Six months experience working in either a diagnostic imaging or acute care setting is preferred.

Required License/Certifications:

  • American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • General computer software usage.
  • General medical terminology preferred.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

There is reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
