What is a scanning agent?

Scanning agents are professionals responsible for operating scanning equipment to digitize physical documents, images, or other materials. Their main tasks include preparing documents, running them through scanners, ensuring digital copies are clear and accurate, and sometimes indexing or organizing scanned files. Scanning agents may work in offices, libraries, medical facilities, or any organization that needs to convert large volumes of paper records into digital formats. Attention to detail and familiarity with scanning software are important skills for this role.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a scanning agent?

To thrive as a Scanning Agent, you need strong attention to detail, basic computer proficiency, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with document management systems, scanning software, and office equipment like high-speed scanners is typically required. Reliability, organization, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines are standout soft skills in this role. These skills ensure accurate digital archiving, data integrity, and smooth workflow in document-heavy environments.

What challenges do scanning agents face and how can they be managed?

Scanning Agents often encounter challenges such as handling high volumes of documents, ensuring accuracy in digitization, and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information. These challenges can be managed by developing strong organizational skills, following strict quality control protocols, and staying updated on the latest scanning technologies. Additionally, effective communication with team members and supervisors helps address any discrepancies or workflow bottlenecks promptly, ensuring smooth operations.

In what kind of jobs do you use a scanning agent?

A scanning agent is used in jobs that involve data collection, document processing, or information monitoring, such as in data entry, document digitization, or cybersecurity. These roles often require familiarity with scanning hardware, image recognition, and sometimes automation tools to efficiently manage large volumes of scanned data.

Job description

We are hiring Senior Cybersecurity Engineer - Tenable One)- Must be local to Dallas for a Contract position in Dallas, TX
Senior Cybersecurity Engineer - Tenable One
Remote Need to be based in the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth area
Company is looking for a senior-level cybersecurity engineer to lead the architecture, deployment, and operationalization of the Tenable One exposure management platform across a global data center and colocation environment. This role spans both traditional IT vulnerability management and OT/IoT security including building management systems, power and cooling infrastructure, and other critical facility technology.
This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role. The engineer will own technical design decisions, drive the build, and hand off a running, measurable program to the customer's security operations team.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture
Design the end-to-end Tenable One architecture: scanner/sensor placement, network segmentation considerations, data flow, and integration points across a distributed global footprint.
Produce a target-state architecture and phased deployment roadmap covering IT and OT/IoT scopes.
Define asset discovery, tagging, and grouping strategy to support accurate exposure scoring and business-context reporting.
Advise on passive vs. active collection methods in sensitive OT environments where active scanning carries operational risk.
Deployment
Deploy and configure Tenable One and its component modules Tenable Vulnerability Management, Tenable Security Center, Tenable OT Security, Nessus scanners, Nessus Agents, and Tenable Identity Exposure / Attack Surface Management as scoped.
Stand up scan policies, credentialed scanning, agent deployment at scale, and scan scheduling aligned to customer change windows.
Build integrations with adjacent systems: CMDB/ITSM (ServiceNow), SIEM, ticketing, identity, and cloud provider accounts.
Validate coverage and data quality; remediate scan gaps, credential failures, and false positives.
Operationalization
Establish the vulnerability and exposure management operating model: SLAs, risk-based prioritization, remediation workflows, exception handling, and escalation paths.
Build dashboards and executive-level reporting on exposure posture, remediation velocity, and coverage.
Automate recurring workflows (ticket creation, asset reconciliation, reporting) via API and scripting.
Document runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials; train customer analysts and engineers.
Partner with IT, OT/facilities, and application owners to drive adoption and remediation accountability.
Estimated Pay Range: 75-90hr
