Location: Houston, TX - Hybrid
Duration:Full time /Direct Hire
Summary The SAP Solution Architect is a technical leader who architects, implements, and optimizes SAP solutions that power our LNG company's financial and reporting systems. This role focuses on leveraging the latest SAP technologies, including S/4HANA, Business Technology Platform (BTP), and workflow capabilities, to ensure robust financial controls, insightful reporting, and data-driven decision-making. Liaises with cross-functional team members in other SAP modules or non-SAP solutions within LNG business. Ensure compliance with change control procedures for on-going changes, enhancements, and projects and maintains operational procedures around supported environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical design of integrated SAP solutions for Finance (FI), Controlling (CO) and integration with Procure to Pay (MM), and Plant Maintenance (PM) and Quality Management (QM) within the SAP S/4HANA environment and non-SAP systems.
  • Liaise with SAP Application Management Support (AMS) team to carry-out required configuration changes and ensure successful implementation.
  • Integrate SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) to create custom extensions, workflows, and integrations.
  • Design solutions that meet LNG-specific requirements, such as hydrocarbon management, asset tracking, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee technical implementation projects, including system configuration, data migration, and integration with other enterprise systems.
  • Leverage SAP workflow capabilities to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Configure and customize SAP and non-SAP reporting tools (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud) a to provide real-time insights into financial and operational performance.
  • Design and implement robust financial controls within SAP to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Define and enforce segregation of duties (SoD) within SAP to mitigate risks.
  • Establish internal control frameworks for financial reporting, inventory management, and procurement processes.
  • Develop custom reports and dashboards to meet the unique information needs of various stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with change control procedures for on-going changes, enhancements, and projects and maintains operational procedures around supported environments.
  • Utilize SAP Analytics Cloud and other reporting tools to provide self-service analytics capabilities for business users.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Stay at the forefront of SAP technologies, including S/4HANA Cloud, BTP, SAP Fiori, and emerging trends in the energy industry.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to SAP functional and technical teams.
  • Mentor junior SAP consultants on technical best practices.

Requirement:
Minimum/preferred experience required for the position:
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP FICO implementation, configuration, and support for large-scale integrated solutions, preferably within the LNG industry or similar sectors (e.g., Refinery, Petro-chemical).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, specializing in the SAP FI and SAP CO modules.
  • 3+ full life cycle SAP implementations
  • SAP S/4HANA experience is a must.
  • Experience in designing and implementing solutions on SAP BTP, including custom workflows and extensions.

Minimum/preferred knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:
  • Demonstrates leadership in SAP project implementation and management.
  • Experienced in coordinating with IT and/or SAP Project Managers to organize, plan, and execute large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors to meet objectives.
  • Successfully develops, implements, and supports applications within the latest SAP technology architecture environments.
  • Effectively liaises within multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams, supporting and empowering team members to complete their activities on time and with high quality.
  • Builds effective and creative cross-functional teams, fostering a positive and productive environment.

  • Ideal candidate shall possess broad understanding of SAP, SAP Finance function, SAP Finance related sub-modules as included below:
  1. General Ledger Accounting
  2. Accounts Payable
  3. Banking
  4. Asset Accounting
  5. Cost Center Accounting
  6. Profit Center Accounting
  • Knowledge of S/4 HANA 2022 suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of SAP Solution Manager and ChaRM would be ideal.
  • Experience of working with outsourced Application Management Support (AMS) provider.
  • Strong understanding of Finance principles, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in SAP BTP, Workflow, ABAP development for custom enhancements and integrations.
  • Experience with SAP data warehousing and reporting tools (e.g., SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP integration technologies with external systems like Energy Trading and Risk Management System (ETRM), EnergySys, EC (Energy Component) and some of the LNG plant related systems like DCS, OSI PI, LIMS, MOC, will be a plus.

Required/Preferred Certifications:
  • SAP FICO certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate or Professional) are highly preferred.
