Position Overview

The SAP PP/DS/APO Consultant will be responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, and continuous enhancement of SAP Production Planning and Advanced Planning solutions, with a strong focus on SAP PP/DS (Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling) and SAP APO.

This role will support enterprise planning, manufacturing, forecasting, and supply chain optimization initiatives while serving as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. The consultant will analyze business requirements, implement scalable SAP planning solutions, and ensure seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA and related SAP modules.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP PP/DS, APO, production planning processes, and supply chain execution within complex manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

SAP PP/DS & APO Support

  • Act as the primary support consultant for SAP PP/DS and APO applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to production planning, scheduling, and supply chain execution
  • Support end-users with incident resolution and system enhancements
  • Monitor and optimize planning processes for operational efficiency

System Design & Configuration

  • Design, configure, and enhance SAP PP/DS and APO solutions based on business requirements
  • Configure planning heuristics, scheduling profiles, product allocation, and supply planning processes
  • Perform impact analysis and implement system changes aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA, MM, SD, and WM/EWM modules

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and supply chain planning workflows
  • Drive process optimization initiatives using SAP PP/DS/APO capabilities
  • Recommend best practices for planning automation, forecasting, and scheduling efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain operations

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business users, functional teams, and SAP vendors to deliver scalable solutions
  • Translate business requirements into technical and functional SAP solutions
  • Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, and status reporting to leadership teams

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP PP/DS and APO functionalities
  • Mentor junior consultants and analysts on SAP planning processes and configurations
  • Participate in solution architecture discussions and enhancement estimations
  • Support project planning, execution, testing, and deployment activities

Testing & Documentation

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Maintain functional specifications, configuration documents, and process documentation
  • Support training sessions and knowledge transfer activities for end-users and support teams

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP PP/DS and SAP APO – MANDATORY
  • Experience with SAP Production Planning (PP) and Supply Chain Planning processes
  • Strong integration experience with SAP S/4HANA
  • Experience with SAP Fiori applications and planning dashboards
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, forecasting, and scheduling processes
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and matrix-driven environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related field
    OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of relevant SAP experience in lieu of degree
  • 10+ years of SAP functional consulting experience in PP/DS, APO, or Production Planning
  • Proven experience supporting enterprise SAP implementations and enhancements
  • Strong understanding of SAP best practices and supply chain processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations and migrations
  • Hands-on expertise in SAP APO modules including SNP, DP, or GATP
  • Experience with SAP IBP integration scenarios
  • Knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5 applications
  • Exposure to SAP EWM or Warehouse Management integrations
  • Experience working within Manufacturing, Automotive, Pharma, or Life Sciences industries
  • Familiarity with SAP Security concepts and role-based access controls
