General Manager Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for driving the strategic direction, overall profitability, and operational excellence of our premier manufactured home retail operations in Rogersville, MO. Leveraging our growing legacy, the GM will lead high-volume growth, optimize business workflows, and oversee our talented teams in Sales, Accounting/Office, Construction, and Home Setup while elevating customer experiences to industry-leading standards. This role requires a visionary leader, who supports an open-book management style and who is comfortable uplifting and holding our teams accountable, can see the complete picture of our operations and blend high-level strategy with construction-focused execution.
Classification:
  • Salaried Exempt
  • $125,000 starting base pay for a qualified candidate will be commensurate with the executive experience required for this position. Additionally, there will be profit sharing and bonuses based on the profitability of the business’ operations.
Strategic Leadership amp; Impact:
  • Performance Leadership: Drive P amp;L responsibility for the entire operation, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, revenue expansion, and process optimization, supporting open-book management.
  • Strategic Growth: Develop and execute long-term sales and operational strategies to exceed annual project goals.
  • Team Empowerment: Cultivate a high-performing team by fostering a culture of accountability, performance management, mentorship and continuous development.
  • Brand Ambassador: Serve as a high-level liaison for customers, factory representatives, and partners to deliver premium, consultative home-buying experience. Lead complex issue resolution with sound judgment and ensure clear, proactive communication throughout the construction process to drive exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Strategic Oversight: Partner with the company President to craft the annual budget, analyze financial statements (P amp;L and Balance Sheets) along with job costing to forecast and execute data-driven, long-term strategic plans.
Operational and Project Excellence:
  • Project Governance: Oversee all aspects of Set Up, Construction and Sales, ensuring end-to-end quality and alignment with the budget of each project; oversee accounting processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and proper controls are in place.
  • Operational Optimization: Identify and implement efficiencies in construction workflows, field quality control, and office administration to reduce lead times and improve profitability.
  • Sales amp; Inventory Optimization: Guide inventory selection through trade show participation and coordination with the sales staff on homes that meet today’s market demand; maximize sales strategies for inventory management; and plan structural and home improvements needed at the sales center.
  • Risk Management: Review and approve complex sales contracts including deals, financial paperwork, purchase orders and compliance documents to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Adaptability and Growth: Exhibit versatility to support the strong teams already in place, where needed. This position will oversee approximately 30 people today, with the intention to more than double in size over the next couple of years.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience and Education: Minimum of 5 years of high-level management experience, preferably in manufactured housing, construction, or a related high-value retail industry. Higher education with business, construction management, or related field is preferred.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated success leading diverse teams and driving performance improvement; capable of working autonomously to make solid decisions while incorporating input from others; high standard of integrity and discretion regarding company and personnel information. Has a clear understanding that leadership is a privilege and seeks to build and uplift the team.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong proficiency in P amp;L management, job costing, and budgetary planning.
  • Expertise: Solid understanding of residential construction process, set-up, and home building standards or the ability to learn it quickly.
  • Skills: Exceptional negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills to clearly articulate ideas and build positive relationships with customers, vendors and staff; critical thinker with the ability to interrogate processes, analyze financial statements and accurately project future performance. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a high mastery of Excel or related programs.
  • Background: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and clear drug screening and background check.
Physical Requirements:
  • Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance, balancing extended desk work with in-field inspections of our team’s performance and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Supervision:
The General Manager is responsible to the company President for operational performance.
