Join our dynamic food manufacturing team at Diamond Pet Foods as a Sanitation employee! Opening is for Day Shift with working hours primarily of 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (schedule may fluctuate based upon business needs). This energetic role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, quality and safety-focused environment. JOB SCOPE: The Sanitation Technician is to be proficient in every aspect of performing the functions of this position. The Sanitation Technician's overall responsibility, and objective, is routine cleaning/sanitizing of machinery/plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure minimal risk of cross contamination by properly utilizing color-coded equipment in the appropriate colored zones.
  • Complete clean out of production lines by foaming, sanitizing, scrubbing, scraping using various chemicals and tools.
  • May perform work in confined spaces adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Complete the Master Sanitation schedule of daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
  • Utilize chemical awareness training in cleaning.
  • Correctly and clearly fill out master sanitation, verification of test strips and all logs.
  • Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within their area including outside of area as directed.
  • Actively participate in coverage of employee absences.
  • Understand the hazards of cross contamination.
  • Understand, follow, and comply with all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures S(SOP's), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and HACCP (CCP's) in accordance to company policy.
  • Cross-train in all applicable areas.
  • Be an employee champion who will maintain a strong and positive working relationship with all employees with the utmost integrity, confidentiality, and ethical values.
  • Perform all other additional duties and functions as assigned by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primarily outdoors or in the plant near operating equipment where smells and odors may be present. Works in both low and high heights, cold, hot, dusty areas where loose particles may be present. Works near operating equipment and loud noise, such as forklift horns and machinery. Loose and dusty particles may be present.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for long periods including on a catwalk.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds routinely.
  • Must be capable of overhead work and manual dexterity for manipulating or moving objects.
  • Must be able to climb both stairs and ladders up to a high elevation.
  • Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.
  • Must be able to perform moderate labor under constant machine operation and other noise.
