Job description

Sales Trainer / Mortgage Training Specialist
Compensation: $85,000+ Base Salary + Performance Bonuses
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are a fast-growing mortgage company specializing in Home Equity Loans (HELOANs) and Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs). We are seeking an experienced Sales Trainer to develop and prepare new Loan Officers for success from licensing through production.

This role is responsible for training, coaching, and developing groups of 5-10 new hires at a time, ensuring they are fully prepared to pass their NMLS exam and succeed on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

NMLS Exam Preparation & Licensing Support

  • Guide trainees through NMLS pre-licensing education coursework
  • Conduct study sessions and review key mortgage concepts
  • Administer and review practice exams
  • Track trainee progress and readiness for state and federal licensing exams
  • Provide coaching and support to maximize pass rates

New Hire Systems & Operations Training

  • Train employees on company systems and technology platforms
  • Assist with workstation setup and onboarding processes
  • Ensure trainees understand workflows, compliance requirements, and daily responsibilities
  • Develop training materials, guides, and reference resources

Loan Officer Development

  • Train new Loan Officers on:
    • Mortgage industry fundamentals
    • Home Equity Loans (HELOANs)
    • Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs)
    • Company processes and procedures
    • Compliance and disclosure requirements
    • Lead management and pipeline organization
    • CRM and phone systems

Sales & Communication Training

  • Teach effective phone skills and call structure
  • Conduct role-playing exercises and call reviews
  • Train on objection handling and consultative sales techniques
  • Develop rapport-building and customer communication skills
  • Coach trainees on conversion strategies and performance improvement

Ongoing Coaching & Development

  • Monitor trainee performance during ramp-up periods
  • Partner with management to identify skill gaps
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and performance feedback
  • Help establish and maintain a high-performance sales culture

Qualifications

  • Mortgage industry experience preferred
  • Active or previous NMLS license preferred
  • Experience training, coaching, or managing sales teams
  • Strong understanding of mortgage products and regulations
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and develop new talent
  • Proficient with CRM systems, phone systems, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
