Overview:
Our client, a leading global investment bank, is seeking a bilingual Japanese/English Equity Trader or Sales Trader to join their U.S. Cash Equities team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the front line of U.S. and international equity markets, supporting institutional order flow from Japan, Asia, and global affiliates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist senior traders with execution of U.S. equity orders (with some exposure to Canadian and LATAM equities).
• Communicate directly with clients and affiliates in Japan and Asia regarding trading instructions and market updates.
• Ensure accurate coordination across front, middle, and back office functions for seamless pre- and post-trade operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve trading issues, including system or coding problems, under time-sensitive conditions.
• Provide regular reporting and updates to colleagues in Japan.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bilingual Japanese (native level oral & written) and English (business level, oral & written) - required.
• Bachelor's degree (Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or Finance preferred).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and ability to perform under pressure.
• Recent graduate up to ~3 years' experience in trading or sales trading preferred (training available for the right candidate).
Licensing: FINRA SIE, Series 7, and 63 required (if not already held, must obtain after joining). Series 57 & 3 may be obtained post-hire with firm sponsorship.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting (short selling, Reg SHO, etc.) a plus.
• Willingness to work in-office 5 days per week in New York.
Other Details:
• Regular working hours: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (EST). Additional communication with Japan/Asia required during their market hours.
