Job description

2025 was a Record Sales Year. Our Largest Sales Growth in Decades. 2026 is trending to be even better.

Water Treatment Sales Support Service Technician—Reno, Nevada

Garratt-Callahan (www.garrattcallahan.com) is family friendly, profitable, stable, and fiercely private. No layoffs in 120 years. No ownership changes in 120 years. Haven't changed our commission plan in 30 years. 80 straight years of profitability. We have operations in every state in the USA.

Technical Sales Support Service Technicians are responsible for maintaining the existing customer base in Reno and the Northern Nevada region, and for performing water treatment tests at the existing customers. With the freedom of working from your home, you can work and train in a territory alongside veteran Territory Managers. The best place to live is in or very near Reno.

The career track for a Technical Sales Support/Service Technician is to train to become a Territory Manager. Territory Managers are eligible for unlimited commission and a year-end bonus.

As a Technical Sales Support/Service Technician, you will receive an industry competitive salary, expenses, benefits, and a $675 per month car allowance. In addition, ample technical support is provided along with continuous training. Paperwork is kept to a minimum. Compensation is based upon experience and the ability to succeed. $65,000 to $75,000 first year base for a qualified candidate.

We hire with a focus that favors the committed employee both in terms of overall compensation and growth opportunities. We have designed our compensation package accordingly. Benefits include a corporate 401k, health, dental, vision, and life insurance.

About Garratt-Callahan:

We are registered to ISO 9001:2015 and sell an industry leading line of “green" solutions, G-C GreenTech. We are headquartered in Burlingame, California.

G-C is family owned, profitable, and expanding. We have five chemical plants in the USA, technical salespeople in every state, and the Caribbean.

Benefits:

  • We offer a competitive benefit package which includes medical, dental, vision, AD&D, LT, and 401k. A monthly car allowance and travel expenses are provided.
  • First year compensation is $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience.
  • Advanced training, and a clear career path.
  • Family friendly, flexible hours.
  • A huge benefit of working for Garratt-Callahan is our stability and low turnover.
  • No Layoffs in our 120-year history
  • G-C is a profitable company. The last year that G-C did not turn a profit was during World War 2.
  • 2025 was a record sales year, and 2026 sales are trending to be at record levels.

Role:

Oversee the chemical cleaning, passivation, and flushing of primary cooling loops during the construction phase of large-scale data centers. Perform on-site technical lead role, coordinating with mechanical contractors to ensure water chemistry meets stringent, time-sensitive specifications and managing the logistics and documentation for each project in a Google document workflow (Google Workspace).

Perform service at other customers such as Mining, Health Care, Commercial Properties and Gaming.

Technical & Field Operations

System Flushing & Cleaning: Lead the chemical cleaning and "pre-operational" flushing of closed-loop chilled water systems.

Water Analysis: Perform on-site water chemistry testing (e.g., pH, conductivity, iron levels, azole concentrations) to verify system readiness.

Mechanical Contractor Assistance: Work side-by-side with mechanical contractors to manage roadblocks, pump setups, dose chemistry, and filtration.

Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all chemical feed equipment and monitoring controllers are properly installed and calibrated.

Service Existing Datacenters: Perform service by checking residuals, swapping out filtrations, and dosing any necessary chemicals. Write a service report at the end of each service.

Project Management & Logistics Duties

Inventory & Ordering: Forecast chemical volumes required for system volumes and place timely orders to avoid site delays.

● Join weekly project meetings

Logistics Oversight: Track shipments and coordinate the delivery of bulk chemicals or IBC totes to active construction sites.

Documentation: Maintain precise "Daily Field Reports" and final documentation for the client (Owner's Rep) and/or mechanical contractors.

Schedule Management: Align chemical treatment phases with the mechanical construction schedule to ensure on-time commissioning and product delivery.

Must Have Requirements:

● One-year technical sales, or an internship related to water treatment chemicals is preferred, but we are willing to train and mentor. Outside industrial sales experience is a plus. You must live in the greater Reno area and be familiar with the industrial marketplace of Northern Nevada.

Water Chemistry Basics: Proficiency in performing and documenting field water analysis (e.g., glycol %, pH, conductivity, iron, phosphate, and inhibitor levels)

Communication Skills: Able to professionally interface with Clients, Mechanical Contractors, and General Contractors to drive the flushing schedule.

Not Required, but Nice to Have Requirements:

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and mechanical blueprints to identify isolation valves, bypasses, and system volumes.

  • Industry Credentials: Association of Water Technologies (AWT) certifications or a Certified Water Technologist (CWT) designation.
  • Logistics Experience: Experience using inventory management software or specialized ERP systems to track orders and shipments.
