Job description

Sales Support Specialist
Summary of Position
The Sales Support Specialist is a sales-service support and succession planning position for the Sales Department. This position interacts professionally with customers, suppliers and co-workers in a mentored environment designed to prepare the employee for a full-time sales career. This is an on-the-job training position that teaches and trains the employee while providing valuable sales-service assistance to the sales team.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Sales Support Specialist. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
  • Use proper phone etiquette and courtesy with customers.
  • Aggressively quote customers, sharing marketplace intelligence obtained promptly to both management and other sales personnel.
  • Accurately complete sales orders and contract reviews.
  • Prepare proposals, quotes, and sales contracts.
  • Promptly respond to Request for Quotes for current and potential customers. The overall goal is no later than 24 hours per RFQ.
  • Review and compare computer generated sales orders to customer purchase orders for accuracy.
  • Record customer sales order into the production system, immediately.
  • Research and follow up late customer orders.
  • Record customer complaints as received utilizing the Customer Complaint Report and forward to the Quality Department for action.
  • Represent Progressive Alloy Steel with professionalism and integrity.
  • Prepare work according to priority and with moderate supervision while keeping in mind the financial goals and quality objectives of the company.
  • Correspond and interact with customers using professional verbal and written communication skills.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of experience in sales
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving skills, and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations customers/suppliers
  • Strong work ethic; self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in an office setting performing similar responsibilities
  • Previous sales and/or accounting experience
