Position Purpose:
The Home Depot Outside Sales Representative Training Program lasts 10-12 months and offers the opportunity to develop sales skills and gain hands-on experience by working in a variety of job rotations that directly impact our Pro business. The Home Depot Outside Sales Representative Trainee will learn day-to-day sales operations and gain exposure to how our distribution centers, stores, inside sales, and outside sales environments drive incremental Pro growth for one of the world's leading retailers.
This position will enhance consultative selling skills with hands-on experiences, including real-world scenarios, simulations, job shadowing, and provide professional development opportunities including networking events, leadership exposure, and dedicated mentoring.
Candidates who successfully complete the program are eligible for promotion to Outside Sales Representative roles within the US market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • 20% - Cross-Functional Collaboration and Mentorship - Participate in meetings across the Pro business, gaining exposure to cross-functional business units. Build networking relationships and receive mentoring and coaching from direct manager and rotation managers.
  • 10% - Formal Training - Complete weekly and monthly professional development training by set deadlines, including instructor-led selling courses and eLearning
  • 70% - On-the-Job Training - Gain foundational understanding of products and services relevant to wholesale construction industry. Travel to stores, distribution centers, other company facilities and customer locations to shadow and gain knowledge through interactions with associates who work in stores, distribution centers, inside and outside sales, and support functions.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
