Job description

Sales Merchandiser- THIS POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL BETWEEN THE ST. GEORGE AND CEDAR CITY AREAS- CONCENTRATING HEAVILY ON THE CEDAR CITY MARKET 

SALES MERCHANDISER– Primary role is to achieve Win at Retail account standards within their assigned territory. Position works in an outside sales and merchandising capacity and is responsible for selling, ordering, and merchandising all Carlson Distributing products, packages, and promotions to an established account base, primarily within the Large Format sector of the business, to achieve Company and supplier business objectives. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core accountabilities, duties, and responsibilities include the following;

  • Responsible for achievement of company Win at Retail standards per account trade classification and to communicate any and all issues to management
  • Grow volume and share at established rate as determined by the company
  • Record inventory levels and generate orders of our products for assigned account base
  • Responsible for merchandising accounts to all company standards, within State and Federal regulations, including proper shelf positioning (e.g. – price and brand flow), displays and location, pricing tags, and maximizing permanent and temporary POS placement and positioning
  • Responsible to maintain distribution and placement of SKU’s, at minimum, to account planogram 
  • Gain and/or improve core brand distribution as determined by Carlson Distributing
  • Improve and increase space and positioning commensurate, at minimum, with market share of Carlson Distributing products
  • Activate promotional opportunities including selling in of displays/racks/equipment, building thematic displays, achieving targeted retails, and selling in consumer promotions
  • Adhere to company standards, policies, and procedures including but not limited to; 
    • Route frequency and sequencing
    • Unscheduled deliveries
    • Pre-plans
    • Sales, invoicing, and transfers
    • Rotation and product quality
    • Appearance standards
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management

  • Sales or customer service experience preferred 
  • Solid work background demonstrating strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to job performance 
  • Must be able to work early mornings, long hours, and weekends as the work schedule may require
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background checks with a satisfactory result
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales guides, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure documents. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively, present information, and respond to questions from customers, fellow employees, and managers
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, volume, and percentages



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to have the physical capability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the physical requirements needed.

  • Majority of work day will entail standing, walking, and driving
  • Regular use of hands to finger and handle products, work equipment, and documents
  • Regular reaching with hands and arms for use with equipment, POS, and product
  • Must be able to regularly reach, pull, twist, bend, climb, and stoop to move cases of beer and to properly merchandise accounts 
  • Must be able to lift/lower 35 lbs. regularly and up to 165 lbs. occasionally
  • Vision requirements include close vision, ability to adjust and focus, distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision, and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships

 Environmental conditions encountered by this job include;
