Job description

JOB SUMMARYย 

To sell and retain Club memberships. Have and/or build a rapport with members for future referrals. Work closely with the Club Sales office area, including Club Sales Administrator, Club Sales Member Service Coordinator, Sales Managers and other Club Managers. ย Must be able to work with all levels of the organization, including but not limited to other managers/employees and directors of other departments. ย Reports to the Director of Membership Sales. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Build relationships with staff and members to generate leads.
  • Required to work a flexible schedule that may at times exceed 40 hours per week. ย This person is expected to complete relevant job duties and use independent judgment to complete the job. ย 
  • Required to work Saturdays and Sundays for scheduled tours if necessary.ย 
  • Maintain and work lead database Gym Sales.
  • Close sales, including all paperwork and financing notes.ย 
  • Generate additional leads through professional alliances outside the club. ย Networking outside of the Club and in the community are crucial keys to successful lead generations.
  • Place a high emphasis on the importance of social functions, including but not limited to attending member functions, social functions off Campus, etc.
  • Give tours and meet with prospective members.
  • Keep accurate records and details in lead base.
  • Consistently meet or exceed personal and team monthly sales quotas.
  • Create sales leads through master prospecting, networking, member referrals and through Club utilization by working out, attending Group Exercise classes (Utilizing the Club is valuable but not necessary).
  • Attend sales meetings.
  • Create a positive environment for outstanding member relationships that fosters the utmost in customer service, satisfaction and future referrals.
  • Attend sales training when required.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
ย 

  • A Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Sales and Marketing or Exercise Physiology is preferred, but not required. ย ย 
  • Some marketing experience beneficial but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience.
  • Background in fitness or athletics is helpful, but not essential.
  • Corporate sales and marketing knowledge helpful.
  • Working knowledge of sales software and contact manager system and proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Be sociable. ย Enjoy meeting and working with people.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills are essential.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while being able to multi task and have attention to detail.
  • Must be a good listener.
  • Strong team building skills and team player mentality.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:

  • Physical Stamina: Sit for extended periods of time, see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids, enter data into computer, operate standard office equipment, use a telephone, hear and understand at normal levels and on the telephone, speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone, stoop, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, move or lift up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
  • Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
  • Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
  • Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
