What is sales development?

Sales Development is a specialized function within a sales organization focused on identifying, connecting with, and qualifying potential customers. Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) typically reach out to leads, nurture relationships, and set up meetings or demonstrations for account executives. Their main goal is to move prospects through the early stages of the sales funnel by understanding their needs and determining if they are a good fit for the company's products or services. This role is crucial for generating new business opportunities and ensuring a steady pipeline for the sales team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales development representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Sales Development Representative, you need strong communication skills, resilience, and a basic understanding of sales principles, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce, sales engagement tools, and lead research platforms is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, persistence, and the ability to quickly build rapport help set top performers apart. These abilities are crucial for generating quality leads, nurturing prospects, and driving revenue growth in a competitive environment.

Job description

Our Storyย

At think-cell, we're on a mission to revolutionize the way professionals work-making presentation creation smarter, faster, and more efficient. Since our founding in 2002 in Berlin, we've been crafting powerful software that seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Office, helping users easily transform complex data into stunning charts and diagrams.ย ย

Driven by innovation and technical excellence, our diverse and dynamic team thrives on creativity and collaboration. We foster an inclusive culture where ideas flourish, and every team member has the opportunity to make a real impact. If you're passionate about shaping the future of productivity software, think-cell is the place for you! ย ย

What you will do:ย ย

think-cell is hiring a Sales Development Representative in Denver to drive pipeline for think-cell Essentials, a product line built to bring think-cell to teams beyond our traditional charting users. You will prospect into enterprise accounts where think-cell is already deployed, identifying teams that do not yet use Essentials and turning them into qualified opportunities. With the world's top consulting firms and many of its largest enterprises already using think-cell, this is a true prospecting role with a warmer starting point than most: the accounts know our brand, and thousands of their colleagues already use our products every day.

You will research account structures, identify target departments, run multi-channel outbound, and lead initial conversations before handing qualified opportunities to the Account Manager who owns the commercial process. You will stay close through the early stages and learn how enterprise deals get done. This is an opportunity for commercially driven early-career sales professionals who want to accelerate their development in enterprise SaaS sales, working closely with Account Management and Marketing as part of our North America sales organization in Denver, in a tech-driven, startup-style environment backed by an established product.

Key Responsibilities:ย ย

  • Prospect into named enterprise accounts to open think-cell Essentials conversations: research organizational structures and build target lists of the teams and departments most likely to adopt
  • Run multi-channel outbound across email, phone, and LinkedIn to engage stakeholders in teams not yet using think-cell
  • Lead discovery conversations with prospective users and stakeholders to understand workflows and qualify Essentials opportunities
  • Partner with the Account Manager who owns each account, aligning outbound with the broader account plan and handing off qualified opportunities for them to commercialize
  • Follow up on marketing campaigns, events, and inbound Essentials interest to convert engagement into qualified pipeline
  • Manage your activity and pipeline against clear weekly and monthly targets
  • Keep all contacts, activity, and opportunities accurate and current in Salesforce
  • Share field insights on messaging, objections, and use cases with sales leadership and Marketing

Your profile:ย

  • 2+ years of experience in sales development, business development, or another customer-facing role; SaaS experience is a plus.
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field
  • Strong written and verbal communication: you can turn account research into outreach that earns a reply.
  • Organized and detail oriented with strong follow-up discipline.
  • An instinct for how large organizations work: you enjoy mapping org structures to find the right stakeholders.
  • Highly coachable, curious, and proactive, capable of operating in an entrepreneurial and fast-moving sales environment.
  • Winning attitude with proven achievement against activity or revenue targets.
  • Understanding of common GTM tools (e.g. Salesforce, Gong, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn SalesNav) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Appreciation of our product - willingness to understand think-cell's products and value is a must, experience with think-cell is a plus.
  • Based in Denver with the ability to work on-site at least three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday.
  • We believe in a human hiringย process,ย every application is personally reviewed.
