Job description

Job Title: Product Coordinator Supervisor

Department: Transportation

Reports To: Product Coordinating Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

We started with pastries handmade by Lois and Lloyd Martin produced inside of a garage and we have boomed into a multi-facility company where our many products are produced by machines and shipped domestically and internationally. As a member of the Martin's Family, the Product Coordinator Supervisor plans and coordinates finished product actives to ensure the orders are prepared.

Essential Duties and Responsivities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs and monitors orders from the computer system and accurately corrects paperwork to reflect new orders.
  • Assigns job tasks to workers according to loading and unloading schedules.
  • Establishes and adjusts employee work schedules to meet production and distribution schedules.
  • Studies orders and estimates the labor hour requirements.
  • Directs the placement of product in the storage areas to ensure the flow of product in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Directs the loading of product to ensure load efficiencies and to also prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit.
  • Directs and monitors the loading and unloading of materials against work order or bill of lading.
  • Oversees scheduling of the movement of materials into and out of the storage areas.
  • Acts as the primary communication liaison for the department.
  • Interacts and communicates with Production, Sales, Schedulers and Transportation to coordinate projections and activities of the individual departments.
  • Directs and coordinates scheduling for all jockeys.
  • Oversees internal department mail and mail order shipping.
  • Directs and monitors the loading of route sales trucks.
  • Facilitates the movement of supplies and materials between plants.
  • Maintains an active role on the Food Safety Committee and Risk Assessment Team.
  • Analyzes any unexpected issues that may arise and directs the department on how to handle effectively.
  • Directs and monitors the transport and processing of stale product.
  • Direct and monitor the transport of empty baskets to the conveyor lines.
  • Interprets company policies to workers.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality or product and logistics of finished product.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities to individual departments.
  • Assisting corporate dispatch team
  • Schedules employees within the Finished Product Department.
  • Ensures cleanliness of work area is maintained.
  • Facilitate safety meetings with Product Coordinators.
  • Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Hours and Schedule: 

Monday-Friday 

6:00PM-3:00AM

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees in the finished product function for both Chambersburg and Valdosta Plants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Participates in interviewing and training employees; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for planning, assigning and directing work of department.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics, or related field; or
  • Three to five years' related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bakery/Manufacturing/Distribution experience preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must be authorized to handle powered equipment.
