What is the average salary in Korea?

Job description

Overview

A full-time (ideally Korean-speaking) career nanny is sought for a 17-month-old girl, with the role beginning asap in New York City. The family split their time roughly 50/50 between NYC (Manhattan) and Chicago (Winnetka). Their schedule has roughly been January-June in Chicago and July-December in NYC, although this could change in the future.

In NYC, the role will typically be 55 hours per week (Monday through Friday from 7:30am-6:30pm). In Chicago, hours will likely be around 50 per week with a similar schedule, though the day may end slightly earlier.

The family can accommodate a live-in or live-out arrangement in NYC and the nanny will be provided with private accommodation in Chicago, along with a vehicle in order to maintain independence and privacy. There may be occasional travel (e.g., a potential winter trip to Cancun), where separate accommodations will also be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Full nursery duties for the toddler
  • Supporting the child's development through age-appropriate activities
  • Managing feeding routines, including careful handling of food allergies (currently sesame and certain tree nuts, with ongoing desensitization efforts)
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment for the child
  • Sole charge in NYC (both parents work outside the home) and more of a shared environment in Chicago (where both parents work from home)
Qualifications
  • Ability to speak Korean is a huge plus but not essential (mom is Korean and would like to make sure that their daughter has a chance to acquire Korean as a language, given that many of her relatives live in Korea and speak only Korean, but this can be achieved with a tutor)
  • Kind, energetic, and nurturing personality
  • Long-term commitment preferred
  • College education is a plus but not essential
Requirements
  • Valid US Passport, Green Card, or EAC
  • Ability to drive (essential for the Chicago portion of the role)
  • Flexibility to relocate between NYC and Chicago throughout the year
  • Comfortable with occasional travel and overnight care when required
Salary and Benefits
  • Hourly rate: $45-$50 + overtime
  • Healthcare will be offered as a stipend or reimbursement
  • Private accommodation and vehicle provided in Chicago
  • Travel expenses covered, with thoughtful arrangements for comfort and privacy
  • Opportunity to work with a supportive and accommodating family long-term
