Job description

The Field Safety Specialist ensures Adams Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, including State and Federal applicable regulations are adhered to by the assigned project leadership personnel.
Provides or identifies safety related training, overseeing adherence to construction safety norms, etc.
Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information.
Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions
โ€ข Perform Construction Site and Safety Audits, i.e., Adams Project Site Safety Inspection.
โ€ข Actively participates in the project handoff programs and processes, including project site preparation, acclimating to the project team, etc.
โ€ข Providing communication and documentation of the inspections carried out including suggesting necessary corrective measures via Adams information systems.
โ€ข Conduct quality control inspections of assigned field leadership personnel ensuring all safety related forms/inspections, i.e., Adams Pre-Task Planning, are being adhered to.
โ€ข Ensure assigned project(s) are adequately equipped with safety apparatus, PPE, potable water, latrines, first aid, etc. to support the current assigned workforce.
โ€ข Providing consultation and advice to the field leadership team and assisting them in maintaining a safe working environment by complying with safety regulations, practices and standards.
โ€ข Assisting the superiors to enforce the safety policy and environmental health guidelines.
โ€ข Training assigned project site personnel on various health and safety topics.
โ€ข Providing direct technical surveillance and testing services as and when
required.
โ€ข Enforce and implement Adams Safety policies and Procedures.
โ€ข Perform scheduled Site Safety Audits for assigned project(s), as needed, or by the request of Senior Field Safety Manager, management, general contractors or the Senior Risk Control Director.
โ€ข Assist assigned leadership personnel with incident and "near miss"
investigations.
โ€ข Provide "in-house" training for Adams employees including but not limited to OSHA 10- & 30-hour courses, First Aid/CPR/AED, Scissor lift, forklift, aerial boom lift, fall protection, Powder Actuated tool, confined space, Heat stress, NFPA 70E, ladder safety and power-driven tools.
โ€ข Record, file and distribute training certifications as necessary for all trainees.
โ€ข Attend all Safety meetings required by Adams, General Contractors and Owners while representing Adams in a professional manner.
Externally:
โ€ข Develop relationships and build the trust of all field associates, project
managers, trade contractors, and others who are associated with project related
activities.
โ€ข The Safety Coordinator shall maintain professional relationships with client
contacts to assure their satisfaction with Adams's Safety Program.
Job Specifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
1. An in-depth knowledge of Adams Electric Company Environmental, Health, and
Safety Manual.
2. An in-depth knowledge of all OSHA regulations in accordance with both 29 CFR
1926 and 29 CFR 1910.
3. A strong working knowledge of the NFPA 70E manual.
4. Skilled at creating, filing, maintenance, and disposition criteria for personnel and
company records.
5. Proficient in web/data base safety and training programs.
6. Proficient in writing internal and external correspondence.
7. Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
8. Ability to focus, organizes, and prioritizes essential functions of this job to meet
deadlines.
9. Ability to foster and maintain teamwork skills.
10. Demonstrates proficient and professional communication skills.
11. Able to adjust and be flexible to the sudden demands.
12. Ability to present to and train both large and small groups on a regular basis.
Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites Required:
Meets NFPA 70e - Electrical Safety Qualified Person criteria
At least two years of work experience in discharging duties related to safety
coordination at a major construction site.
