The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Distribution & Warehouse Operations Manager. The Distribution & Warehouse Operations Manager leads multisite warehousing (receiving, putaway, storage, inventory control, picking/packing, shipping), 3PL overflow operations, and outbound transportation from the plants to North American distribution centers, as well as order fulfillment and distribution to one directship customer. The role ensures inventory accuracy, ontime/accurate shipments, carrier performance, safety, and cost efficiency, and partners closely with Materials Management, Production Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Service/Order Management, Quality, EHS, Finance, IT/Systems, 3PLs, and carriers. Systems: SAP.

This position is onsite in Rochester, NY

Schedule: This is primarily a 1st shift position with oversight of all Rochester warehouses.

The Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Leadership

    Own the endtoend execution from receiving through shipment: three plant warehouses, 3PL overflow, and outbound transportation to NA DCs/directship customer.

    Build and lead highperforming teams (including 1 Warehouse Supervisor), set standards of work, staff to plan, and develop crosstraining for flexibility.

    Establish a tiered management system (daily/weekly/monthly) with visible KPIs and structured problem solving.

  • Warehouse Operations (3 Sites)

    Oversee receiving, putaway, storage/slotting, kitting/staging, picking, packing, and shipping.

    Drive inventory accuracy via robust cycle counting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

    Optimize layout, slotting, MHE, and racking to improve flow, safety, and productivity.

    Ensure docktostock and order cycle time targets are met.

    Maintain SOPs, work instructions, 5S, and visual management.

  • Distribution, Transportation & DirectShip Fulfillment

    Own transportation planning, tendering, appointment scheduling, and trackandtrace to NA DCs; manage exceptions proactively.

    Lead carrier performance (tender acceptance, OTD, claims, cost/stop), and negotiate rates in partnership with Procurement (as applicable).

    Ensure ontime, infull and compliant shipments to the directship customer, including EDI/ASN timeliness, label/pack compliance, and chargeback prevention.

    Manage freight claims and work with carriers and plants on corrective actions.

  • CrossFunctional Integration

    Partner with Production Planning to align daily/weekly shipping plans, constraints, and recovery plans.

    Partner with Materials Management for inbound flow, GR/putaway cadence, and to prevent stockouts/linedowns.

    Partner with Customer Service/Order Management on order promising, prioritization, and customer compliance.

    Collaborate with Quality on nonconformance handling, holds, and disposition.

    Coordinate Finance on budgeting, cost controls, and freight audit & pay.

    Work with IT/Systems on master data (bins, HU/packing specs, shipping conditions), EDI, and system enhancements.

  • Compliance, Safety & Risk

    Ensure OSHA and site safety compliance, strict PPE and MHE practices, and lead incident investigations.

    Maintain DOT/FMCSA compliance for carrier operations (where applicable); ensure hazmat procedures are followed if relevant.

    Own business continuity and peak/seasonal scaling plans for logistics and warehousing.

  • Continuous Improvement & Cost Management

    Lead CI initiatives (Lean/Kaizen, 5S, standard work, SMED for changeovers in shipping/receiving).

    Improve cost per unit, freight cost per pound/unit, and labor productivity while protecting service and quality.

    Build and manage annual operating budgets (labor, MHE, supplies, freight) and capex (racking, MHE, automation).

The Individual

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 7-10+ years in warehousing/distribution/logistics.

  • Demonstrated success with transportation to DC networks and directship customer fulfillment.

  • ERP/WMS/TMS proficiency (e.g., SAP IM/WM/EWM, TM, or equivalents); strong data discipline and master data acumen.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, hazmat (as applicable).

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of an office, manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

The Physical Demands

Position requires ability to lift up to50 lbs.or more at least 35 % of the dayon a regular basis. Walking, standing, andclimbingfor long periods of time (up to50% of the day) are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.Must operatea forklift approximately 15% of the time.
