Job description

Student Hall Visitor Coordinator

This position is accountable for supporting university hall residents by requiring hall guests register their visit with the front desk by providing a photo ID prior to entering the resident hall. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

  • Communication: Students build communication skills by practicing clear, respectful, and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in a workplace setting.
  • Critical Thinking: Students build critical thinking skills by applying judgment, solving problems, prioritizing tasks, maintaining accuracy, and using feedback to improve their work.
  • Leadership: Students build leadership skills by taking initiative, demonstrating responsibility, supporting others, contributing ideas, and modeling positive workplace behaviors.
  • Professionalism: Students build professionalism by practicing dependability, accountability, confidentiality when applicable, workplace etiquette, and respectful service in a workplace setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitor the front lobby of an assigned residence hall; report any concerns to either an RA or the Department of Public Safety

  • Request photo identification and guest log signature from anyone who is not a hall resident; ensure guest is escorted by a resident at all times while visiting the residence hall

  • If assigned as a SDO Coordinator, ensure that SDO's are at their posts during their assigned shift

  • If assigned as a SDO Coordinator, report any no-shows directly to the Administrative Assistance or his/her designee

Qualifications

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication including strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability and willingness to learn how to operate a two-way radio

  • Requires maintaining strict confidentiality reference exposure to sensitive information

  • Requires ability to maintain responsible key / swipe card use during assigned shift

Description of Hours: Scheduled up to 10 hours a week from 7:00pm and 11:00pm Sunday through Saturday. Exceptions to these hours may be made by the Administrative Assistant or his/her designees.
