JOB TITLE: SAP BTP Architect                    DEPARTMENT: Innovation Factory

REPORTS TO: App Dev Manager                                                                                             FLSA STATUS: Exempt 

 

 

SUMMARY

The SAP BTP Architect leads the design and implementation of scalable, enterprise-grade solutions on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), driving digital transformation by bridging business requirements with technical capabilities. Reporting to the Application Development Manager this role will be pivotal in ensuring transformational solutions are well thought out, organized, and designed to push the state of the art of our platforms.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Solution Architecture & Design

    • Architect end-to-end solutions on SAP BTP, aligning IT strategies with business objectives.
    • Develop reference architectures and solution blueprints for integration, extension, analytics, and data management.
    • Define resiliency patterns and multi-region deployment strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.
    • Responsible for determining when SAP BTP is the right tool for the job, given architectural best practices and advantages / disadvantages of other integration methods.

Technical Leadership

    • Lead technical workstreams and mentor development teams in SAP BTP capabilities (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, ABAP Environment).
    • Promote best practices in SAP cloud development, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Evaluate and recommend SAP BTP services and runtimes based on use cases.

Integration & Development

    • Integrate SAP systems (S/4HANA, ECC) with external platforms using APIs, middleware, and SAP Cloud Connector.
    • Develop and enhance ABAP objects (BAPIs, BADIs, workflows), CAPM applications, CDS views, and Fiori Elements.
    • Build cloud-native apps and customize UI using Java, JavaScript, Node.js, and Python (preferred).
    • Design and implement SAP Fiori/UI5 applications, including theme and Launchpad development.

Stakeholder Management

    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define solution requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
    • Present architectural strategies and technical options to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement

    • Lead SAP BTP projects, including planning, estimation, and cost analysis.
    • Ensure adherence to SAP Activate methodology or equivalent structured delivery approaches.
    • Support post-go-live activities, optimization, and continuous improvement.
    • Recommend and implement development process improvements.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • SAP Certified Professional - Solution Architect - SAP BTP (required); additional SAP BTP certifications (Development, Integration, Analytics) preferred.
  • 10+ years of development experience, including 3+ years hands-on with SAP BTP services and capabilities.
  • Strong ABAP development experience (5+ years preferred).
  • Experience with SAP Fiori, SAP UI5, CAPM, CDS, Node.js, Java/JavaScript, and Python (preferred).
  • Proven experience leading SAP projects and cloud transformation efforts.
  • Familiarity with SAP BAS, Fiori Elements, microservices architecture, containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as (Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Git) and agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, multi-cloud, hyperscaler).
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA migration or upgrade projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud extensions and clean core principles.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML services and implementation on SAP BTP.
  • Industry certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
  WORK SCHEDULE  
  • Fulltime position (40 hours a week), Overtime, Weekends, Holidays, Trainings as required.
