Job Summary
The SAP Cloud Integration Engineer II designs, develops, and supports enterprise integration solutions using SAP Cloud Integration and SAP BTP services. This role involves building and maintaining integration flows, message mappings, and data transformations using standard integration patterns, APIs, and messaging technologies to enable secure and reliable data exchange between SAP and external systems. The position collaborates closely with business and technical teams to translate requirements into effective solutions, performs unit and integration testing, monitors and resolves integration issues, and follows established SDLC and documentation standards while continuously enhancing skills and contributing to quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains message mappings and data transformations using SAP Cloud Integration.
  • Builds and enhances integration flows using established patterns, standards, and best practices.
  • Implements integrations using RESTful APIs, SOAP services, JSON, and XML.
  • Performs unit testing and participates in integration testing to ensure solution quality and reliability.
  • Supports integration between SAP Cloud Integration and SAP BTP services such as SAP API Management and Event Mesh, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves integration issues to ensure availability, performance, and security.
  • Collaborates with business analysts, functional teams, and technical peers to understand requirements and delivers effective integration solutions.
  • Follows SDLC methodologies and documentation standards as defined for projects and operational support.
  • Applies security-conscious practices when working with protocols, authentication methods, and system integrations.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts by learning new technologies, tools, and integration techniques.

Non-essential Functions
  • Responds to IT Helpdesk incidents related to integrations when appropriate, including limited off-hours support.
  • Assists senior engineers with coordinating work performed by contractors, as assigned.
  • Promotes and maintains the identity and reputation of Border States by ensuring quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties assigned by manager or designate.

Qualifications
Required
  • 4-year STEM degree, Advanced Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of working with SAP Cloud Integration.
  • Advanced experience working with SOAP and/or RESTful API development and design .
  • Strong experience with XML, XSD, XPath and XSLT.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience designing and developing within tiered applications and architectures .
  • Experience with unit and integration testing.

Preferred
  • Experience with messaging systems and concepts - e.g.: JMS, ActiveMQ, MSMQ.
  • Knowledge of architecture design patterns and/or enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with event-based architecture paradigms (e.g.: event sourcing, event replay, aggregates).
  • Familiarity with SAP technologies (e.g.: ECC/S4, ABAP, IDoc, RFC, SAP API Management on SAP BTP).
  • Experience integrating SAP with other systems and technologies such as Salesforce, AWS, Azure.
  • Familiarity with cXML and/or PIDX.
